Swanton is a small town in Harford County, Maryland, located about 25 miles north of Baltimore. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Swanton is home to the Swanton Mill and Museum, which is open to the public from May through October.

The town's economy is based on agriculture and tourism. The mill has been in operation since 1792 and produces flour, lumber, paper products and other items. The museum features exhibits on milling history and local lore. There are also displays on local architecture and natural resources.

Swanton was first settled in 1748 by Nicholas Longworth III and his family. The town was named for Thomas Swann, a colonial official who had been killed in battle near Philadelphia. A post office has been operational in Swanton since 1820.

The main street of Swanton is lined with historic homes that were built between the late 18th century and the early 20th century. Many of these homes have been restored or are currently used as bed-and-breakfast establishments or vacation rentals.
