Upper Marlboro, MD

Upper Marlboro is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 21,898 at the 2010 census. Upper Marlboro is located at 38°48′N 77°5′W / 38.80000°N 77.10000°W / 38.80000; -77.10000 (38.791667, −77.093333).

The town of Upper Marlboro was founded in 1792 and incorporated as a town in 1871. It is named for Major General James Wolfe who died during the Battle of Quebec on October 13, 1759 while leading the British forces against the French army commanded by General Montcalm. Upper Marlboro is home to many notable people including former U.S Senator Strom Thurmond and current U.S Representative John Sarbanes III both of whom were born in the town and current Governor Larry Hogan who also resides there with his family
