Chester, MA

Chester is a city located in southeastern Massachusetts, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 31,924. Chester is home to The Chesterfield Collection, one of the world's largest privately owned art collections.

The city was first settled in 1683 as part of the town of Westfield and was officially incorporated as a town in 1727. In 1792, it became part of the newly created county of Hampshire. In 1853, it annexed portions of Westfield and Northampton and became known as the City of Chester. It was named for Prince Henry Frederick, Duke of Cumberland and Strathearn (1771-1851), who was Commander-in-Chief British Forces in North America during the War of 1812.

Today, Chester is an affluent city with a diverse economy that includes health care, education and technology sectors. The city has been recognized for its quality of life by being named one of "America's 100 Best Communities to Live In" by Forbes magazine in 2009 and again in 2013. Several Fortune 500 companies have their headquarters or major operations here including Fidelity Investments, TD Bank Group and BB&T Corporation. The Greater Boston Area is home to more than 5 million people which has helped fuel growth in both residential and commercial real estate markets within Chester over recent years

The real estate market within Chester has seen strong growth over recent years due to its proximity to Boston as well as its many amenities including excellent schools, plenty shopping options as well as access to major highways making it easy for residents to commute into Boston or other parts of Massachusetts
