Jamaica Plain, MA

Jamaica Plain is a densely populated neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. The neighborhood has a population of about 60,000 and is known for its large number of historic homes and its proximity to the city center. The area was first settled in the 17th century and was originally known as Muddy River Neck. In the early 1800s, Jamaica Plain became home to a number of textile mills, which helped make it one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Boston. However, by the late 20th century, many of these mills had closed down and the neighborhood began to experience economic decline.

However, since the 1990s, Jamaica Plain has seen a resurgence in popularity due to its close proximity to downtown Boston and its abundance of historic homes. Today, Jamaica Plain is home to a number of restaurants and businesses that cater to residents and visitors alike.
