Southwick is a town located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Boston metropolitan area.
The town of Southwick was first settled in 1659 as part of Charlestown. In 1775, during the American Revolution, it was occupied by British troops and used as a base for operations against Boston. After the war, it became an agricultural center and remained so until the early 20th century when new development began to take place.
In 1906, Southwick became home to one of America's earliest golf courses when Charles Bulfinch designed The Country Club of Southwick on land that had been donated by George Eastman and his wife Harriet Beecher Stowe. The course quickly became one of New England's most prestigious clubs and hosted many notable golfers including Bobby Jones and Gene Sarazen.
Today, Southwick is home to a number of upscale homes and estates as well as several shopping centers and restaurants. Its location just minutes from downtown Boston makes it an ideal place to live or work
