Ann Arbor, MI

Ann Arbor is a city in Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 103,098 at the 2010 census. Ann Arbor is the county seat of Washtenaw County and home to the University of Michigan. In 2007, Ann Arbor was named one of America's 25 Best Small Cities by Forbes magazine.

The city has a rich history dating back to 1824 when it was founded as Ypsilanti by John Allen and Elisha Walker. The city became known as Ann Arbor after being incorporated as a village in 1837 and then as AnnArbor Township in 1841. The University of Michigan moved from Detroit to Ann Arbor in 1817, and the city grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its proximity to the university and its favorable business climate. Today, Ann Arbor is an important center for research and development, with many high-tech companies based in or near the city.
