Franklin, MI

Franklin is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 25,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1819 by General James Winchester and named for Benjamin Franklin, who had been an advocate for American independence and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. The first settler arrived in 1820, and Franklin soon became a center for trade and commerce on the Wolverine River. The city's early economy was based on agriculture and manufacturing; however, it has since developed into a leading center for business, health care, education, and tourism in southeastern Michigan.

Real estate is one of Franklin's most important industries; it employs more than 10% of the city's workforce. There are several reasons why real estate is so important to Franklin:

1) The city has a large population that is growing rapidly;

2) Many new businesses are moving to Franklin;

3) The city has excellent infrastructure (including highways, railroads, airports);

4) There are many available housing units (both single-family homes and apartments).
