Hastings, Michigan is a city located in the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 16,811. The city is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Huron and is bordered by Saginaw to the south and east, Midland to the north and west, and Bay City to the northwest.

The area that would become Hastings was first settled in 1824 by Solomon Sibley who built a sawmill on what is now known as Sibley Park. The town was incorporated as Hastings in 1853 and became an important shipping port for lumber products during the late 19th century. The lumber industry declined after World War II but has since rebounded due to increased demand for wood products from new construction projects throughout North America. Today, Hastings is home to several businesses including a paper mill, two shipyards, two banks and numerous restaurants and retail establishments.
