Dodge Center, MN

Dodge Center is a small town located in Dodge County, Minnesota. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Dodge County. The town was founded in 1859 and named for General Samuel J. Dodge, who served as Secretary of War under President James K. Polk.

The town's economy is based on agriculture and tourism. Major crops include corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, and potatoes. There are also dairy farms and a poultry processing plant in the area. Tourism is drawn to the area's lakeshore location and its many historical sites including the Dodge County Courthouse (1892), which was designed by architect George Witte; the First Presbyterian Church (1872), which was built by local farmers; and the Old Stone Mill (c 1860), which has been restored as a museum operated by the Dodge Center Historical Society.
