Dumont is a small town located in southeastern Minnesota. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Dumont is located in Dodge County and is bordered by the towns of New Prague to the north, Crystal to the east, and Albert Lea to the south.

The town of Dumont was founded in 1871. The first settler in Dumont was John Siefert who built a cabin on what is now known as Siefert's Hill. Dumont's early economy was based on agriculture and lumbering. In 1892, a post office was established and named for Charles F. Dumont, an early settler and railroad promoter who had died earlier that year. The town's name was changed from Siefertsville to Dumont in 1895 in honor of Charles F. Dumont.

Today, much of the economy of Dumont revolves around its thriving real estate market which has seen significant growth over recent years due to increasing demand for housing within close proximity to both major metropolitan areas ( Minneapolis-St Paul and Rochester) as well as smaller cities with desirable amenities (such as recreation opportunities). As a result, median home prices have increased significantly over the past several years reaching $130,000 or more in some cases (compared to around $60,000 just 10 years ago). This has led to an influx of new residents into the town – both longtime residents who are now able to afford homes there more easily as well as newcomers who are attracted by these high prices and all that Dumont has to offer (including its small-town feel coupled with access to big city amenities).
