Harris, MN

Harris is a city located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 25,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hennepin County.

The city of Harris was founded in 1854 and named for General Harris of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who surveyed the area for settlement purposes. The first settler in Harris was James Auldridge, who arrived in 1855 with his family from Kentucky. The town quickly grew as a center for trade and commerce on the banks of the Mississippi River. In 1859, a bridge connecting Harris to downtown Minneapolis was completed, making it easier for residents and businesses to cross the river.

In 1880, a fire destroyed much of downtown Harris; however, rebuilding efforts led to an increase in business activity and development over the next several years. In 1886, a new courthouse was built and became home to county government offices; this building still stands today and is used as both a courthouse and municipal hall. In 1897-98, several blocks were rebuilt using brick instead of wood after another devastating fire destroyed much of downtown Harris again; this redevelopment helped spur further growth in business activity and development over the next several years.

During World War II, many men from Harris served in military units such as the U.S Army Air Forces or Navy Seabees; many later returned to civilian life and started businesses in their hometowns. After World War II ended, many families moved into newly constructed homes that had been built throughout the city; this influx of new residents helped spur continued growth in business activity and development over the next several years.

In 1970-71, extensive renovations were made to City Hall after it had been damaged by arsonists; these renovations led to an increase in public meetings being held there as well as an increase in public input being received by city officials on various matters affecting residents' lives.

In 1987-88 extensive renovations were made to Central High School after it had been damaged by arsonists once again; these renovations led to increased enrollment at Central High School as well as an increase in students' graduation rates overall (the school has since undergone additional renovations).

In 2002-03 extensive renovations were made to Park Nicollet Mall after it had been damaged by flooding caused by Hurricane Isabel; these renovations led to increased visitation rates at Park Nicollet Mall as well as an increase in retail sales (the mall has since undergone additional renovation projects).

Harris continues to be one of Minnesota's fastest growing cities thanks largely to its strong economy fueled by its diverse array of businesses (including both traditional retailers such as department stores and restaurants along with newer establishments such as technology companies) along with its excellent public schools system which provides quality education for students from all walks of life (including those living near poverty areas). Additionally, Harris is home to numerous cultural attractions which have helped make it one of Minnesota's most popular tourist destinations (including both museums dedicated specificallyto regional historyand attractions such as Six Flags amusement park).
