Nashua is a city located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 36,868 at the 2010 census. Nashua is the county seat of Hennepin County and is part of the MinneapolisSaint Paul metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1854 and named after Nashua, New Hampshire. The first settler in Nashua was Elijah Durkee who arrived in 1852 with his family from Newburyport, Massachusetts. Durkee opened a general store and began to develop the town. He also served as mayor of Nashua from 1871 to 1873.

In 1870, the Northern Pacific Railroad reached Nashua and began to bring new businesses and residents to the town. Railroads were instrumental in developing many towns across America and played an important role in shaping regional economies. As a result of railroad development, Nashua grew rapidly into a major commercial center for northern Minnesota. By 1900, Nashua had become one of the largest cities in northern Minnesota with a population of 8,000 people.

During World War II, Nashua was one of several cities across America that saw significant growth due to military spending and recruitment efforts by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). Between 1940 and 1945, the population of Nashua increased by more than 50%. This rapid growth led to severe housing shortages which were resolved through construction of new homes and apartments near downtown Nashua.

Today, Nashua remains an important commercial center for northern Minnesota with a diverse economy that includes manufacturing, health care services, information technology services, retail trade and tourism industries. The city has been successful in attracting high-tech companies such as Google Inc., Microsoft Corporation and Apple Inc., which have contributed to its growing economy overall.
