Nelson, MN

Nelson is a small town located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The population was 10,924 at the 2010 census. Nelson has a long history as a center of agriculture and commerce. The town was founded in 1856 and named for General Horatio Nelson, who fought in the Napoleonic Wars.

Today, Nelson is an important commercial and residential center in the Twin Cities region. The town's economy is based on retail sales, health care services, manufacturing, and tourism. Nelson is home to several major businesses including Target Corporation, Hennepin County Medical Center, Medtronic Inc., 3M Company, General Mills Inc., Best Buy Co., Home Depot Inc., and numerous other smaller businesses.

The city's primary transportation routes include Interstate 35W and Minnesota State Highway 5. There are also several local roads that connect Nelson with neighboring communities. The city has a public library system and two parks: Veterans Memorial Park and Heritage Park.
