Pine River, MN

Pine River is a small town located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.

The town was founded in 1868 and named for the pine trees that grew abundantly in the area. The town's economy has traditionally been based on agriculture and related businesses, but it has also developed into a bedroom community for Minneapolis and St. Paul. Pine River is home to several large companies, including 3M and General Mills, as well as smaller businesses such as a printing company and a bakery.

The town's primary commercial streets are Main Street (U.S. Highway 169) and 2nd Street ( Minnesota State Highway 55). There are also several small business districts along side these major thoroughfares: Maple Avenue, Elm Avenue, Willow Avenue, Elmwood Avenue South ( Minnesota State Highway 210), Parkview Boulevard East ( Minnesota State Highway 212), Northland Drive East ( Minnesota State Highway 213), Westland Drive West ( Minnesota State Highway 214), and Brookdale Boulevard North ( Minnesota State Highway 215). There are also several parks in Pine River: Memorial Park on Main Street near the center of town; Veterans Memorial Park on 2nd Street; Heritage Park on Maple Avenue; Liberty Park on Willow Avenue; Pioneer Park on Elmwood Avenue South; Meadowbrook Community Center park off Minnesota State Highway 210 just north of Interstate 35W exit 228A; and Brookdale Community Center park off Minnesota State Highway 212 just south of Interstate 35W exit 229A.

There are two schools in Pine River: Pine River- Baxter Elementary School which serves grades K-5th grade, and Pine River-Hennepin Technical High School which serves grades 6-12th grade
