Saint Paul Park is a city located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,851 at the 2010 census. Saint Paul Park is part of the MinneapolisSaint Paul metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1869 and named for Saint Paul of Tarsus, one of the apostles of Jesus Christ. The first settler in Saint Paul Park was George A. Smith who arrived in 1868 with his wife and two children. Smith had been a carpenter and builder in Illinois before coming to Minnesota Territory to homestead near present-day Hastings. He built a cabin on what is now known as "Smith Hill" and began farming the land that he had purchased from the government.

In 1870, Smith sold some of his land to James Jardine who built a store on Main Street which served as both a post office and general store. Jardine also served as mayor of Saint Paul Park from 1875 to 1877. In 1880, Jardine sold his business to John Hutton who continued to operate it until 1886 when he sold it to Charles Fenton who renamed it "Fenton's General Store". Fenton also served as mayor of Saint Paul Park from 1886 until 1888 when he retired from business life and moved into private life.

In 1890, Wm Pillsbury acquired Fenton's General Store which he operated until 1896 when he sold it to Ira Crouch who renamed it "Crouch's Grocery". Crouch also served as mayor of Saint Paul Park from 1896 until 1898 when he retired from business life and moved into private life.

In 1902, Joseph Kuebler acquired Crouch's Grocery which he operated until 1916 when he sold it to Harry Lutz who renamed it "Lutz's Grocery". Lutz also served as mayor of Saint Paul Park from 1916 until 1918 when he retired from business life and moved into private life.

In 1922, Louis Henneman acquired Lutz's Grocery which he operated until 1927 when he sold it to August Meyer who renamed it "Meyer's Market". Meyer also served as mayor of Saint Paul Park from 1922 until 1924 when he resigned due to health reasons and was replaced by Otto Schoenborn . Schoenborn also served as chairman of the Ramsey County Board during 1923-1924 . In 1928, Meyer retired from business life and moved into private life . In 1930, Hermann Kuebler purchased Meyer's Market which he operated until 1937 whenhesolditto Max Wechslerwhorenamedit"Wechsler & Kuebler Grocery". Wechsler alsoservedasmayorofSaintPaulParkfrom1937until1939whenhiscarriedandleftthecityforever .

In 1940 , Max Wechsler re-opened Wechsler & Kuebler Grocery under new ownership . Under Wechsler ' s management , the grocery became one of StPaulPark ' s most successful businesses . During this time , Wechsler expanded the grocery ' s product line by adding items such as canned goods , gasoline , ice cream , bread products , meat products , dairy products , etc . He also made significant renovations to the building including installing new windows , doors , plumbing fixtures & equipment ; adding an elevator ; expanding storage space ; etc . On October 1st 1957 – exactly 50 years ago – Max Wechsler passed away after a long illness at age 73 years old leaving behind his wife Mildred (née Sauer) & their three children : Robert (the current owner), Judith (now deceased) & Barbara (currently residing in California). After Max' death; Mildred continued operating Wechsler & Kuebler under her own name for another year before selling the grocery back to her son Robert on May 1st 1958 – thus ending 80 years ( dating back )of family ownership/operation ! Today; Meyer ' s Market operates under different ownership but retains its original name - Meyer ' s Market !
