Wilmont, MN

Wilmont is a small town located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Wilmont is home to a number of lakes and parks, as well as a variety of businesses and homes. The town's economy is based largely on real estate and tourism.

Wilmont has been in existence since 1872, when it was founded by settler John W. Wilmot. The town was originally named "Wilmot" after the settler, but was later renamed " Wilmont" after the Wilmot family of England. The town's first business was a general store operated by John W. Wilmot and his son-in-law, James Aitkenhead. In 1881, the railroad came to Wilmont and started bringing in new residents and businesses; this led to an increase in real estate activity in the town.
