Kiln, MS

Kiln is a small town located in Harrison County, Mississippi. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. Kiln is known for its historic downtown district and its many antique shops. The town's economy is based largely on the antique trade and tourism.

The first settlers in Kiln arrived in 1835. The town was originally called " Kilnin" after the nearby kilns where bricks were made. In 1881, the name was changed to " Kiln" after a local merchant, J.H. Kiln, donated land for a railroad depot and post office. The town's original downtown district was destroyed by fire in 1902, but was rebuilt shortly thereafter thanks to donations from local businessmen.

Today, Kiln is a small town with a rich history and many attractions that make it a popular tourist destination. The downtown district features several historic buildings including the old train depot (now used as an antique store), the old courthouse (now used as an art gallery), and the old bank building (now used as an event space). There are also several restaurants and shops located in the district including Kilnin's General Store (which has been open since 1880), Joe's Antique Emporium (which opened in 1978), and Mrs Kittle's Antiques (which opened in 1985).

The main attraction of Kiln is its many antique shops which sell everything from furniture to porcelain dolls to pottery figurines. Many of these shops are family-owned businesses which have been operating for decades or even centuries. Some of the oldest businesses in Kiln include Joe's Antique Emporium, Mrs Kittle's Antiques, and Rufus' Restorations & Repairs which all opened their doors before World War II!

Another major attraction of Kiln is its location near several natural attractions including Chickasaw National Recreation Area (home to Chickasaw Bluffs State Park) and Natchez Trace Parkway (a National Historic Trail). These attractions make Kiln an ideal place to spend a day hiking or biking trails or exploring historical sites like Fort Mims or Old Natchez Townsite
