Chillicothe, MO

Chillicothe is a city located in Greene County, Missouri. The population was 14,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Greene County. Chillicothe is known as the " Queen City of the Ozarks."

The city was founded in 1836 and named for its founder, Colonel John Chillicothe. The town's economy was based largely on agriculture until the early 20th century, when it began to develop as a tourist destination due to its natural attractions and proximity to major cities such as St. Louis and Springfield.
