Mound City, MO

Mound City is a small town located in the southeast corner of Missouri. The population was just over 2,000 people in 2010. Mound City is a farming community that has seen its share of changes over the years. The town was founded in 1837 and originally consisted of just a few buildings. In 1871, the railroad came to Mound City and the town began to grow rapidly. By 1900, Mound City had become a major center for commerce and industry in southeastern Missouri.

Today, Mound City is still an important commercial center, but it also has many historic buildings and attractions that make it a unique place to live or visit. The most famous landmark in Mound City is the courthouse building, which was built in 1870 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Other notable attractions include the Masonic Temple (built in 1887), Union Station (built in 1907), and several churches including First Presbyterian Church (built in 1868) and St John's Episcopal Church (built in 1886).

The economy of Mound City is based largely on agriculture, with crops such as cotton, corn, wheat, soybeans, and tobacco being grown on local farms.
