Wentzville is a small town located in the southwest corner of St. Louis County, Missouri. The population was 10,898 as of the 2010 census. Wentzville is home to several businesses and industries, including a large Wal-Mart distribution center and a Toyota manufacturing plant. The Wentzville area has been settled for centuries, with archaeological evidence indicating that Native Americans lived in the area as early as 1000 BC. In 1833, John Wentz established a farm on what is now known as Wentzville Road. The town of Wentzville was founded in 1892 when the railroad was extended to that point. At its peak, the town had a population of 1,500 residents. However, due to suburbanization and other factors, the population has since declined by more than half to just under 4,000 people today.
