Madison, NE

Madison is a city located in Douglas County, Nebraska, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,898. Madison is the county seat of Douglas County and home to the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.

The first white settlers arrived in what is now Madison in 1854. The city was named for James Madison, fourth president of the United States. The railroad reached Madison in 1868 and helped spur growth. By 1880, Madison had a population of 1,500 and had become the county seat.

Today, Madison is a thriving city with many businesses and attractions. The city has a population of 10,898 as of 2010 and an average temperature of 48 degrees Fahrenheit during winter months and 82 degrees Fahrenheit during summer months.
