Basking Ridge is a town in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the town's population was 21,922,[1][2] reflecting an increase of 1,811 (+14.4%) from the 18,521 counted in the 2000 Census.[3]

Basking Ridge is home to many luxury estates and mansions. The town has a long history of being a wealthy community and has been ranked as one of the wealthiest towns in America by Forbes magazine.[4] The town is also home to Basking Ridge Public Schools which are ranked as one of the best public schools in New Jersey.[5][6]

Real estate in Basking Ridge is very expensive. The median sale price for homes was $1.29 million in 2016,[7] which is more than double the median sale price for homes statewide ($597,500).[8] In addition, there are very few affordable housing options available in Basking Ridge. As of 2017 , only 2% of all housing units were considered affordable by HUD standards[9], which means that most people who want to live in Basking Ridge must pay over 100% of their income on rent or mortgage payments.[10]
