Collingswood is a borough in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 10,898,[1][2] reflecting an increase of 556 (+5.4%) from the 9,912 counted in the 2000 Census.[3]

The borough was incorporated on February 14, 1894,[4] from portions of Gloucester Township and Collingswood Township.[5] The borough derives its name from Colonel George Collingwood (1786-1868), a Revolutionary War officer and landowner who served as mayor of Philadelphia (1834-35) and as governor of New Jersey (1851-53).[6][7][8][9]

Collingswood is located at 40°25′N 74°27′W / 40.417°N 74.455°W / 40.417; -74.455 (40.41700,-74.45500). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.1 km2), all of it land.[10]

As of the census[11] of 2000, there were 9,912 people, 3,593 households, and 2,711 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,572.3 people per square mile (606.6/km²). There were 3,859 housing units at an average density of 614 per square mile (236/km²).
