Hainesport, NJ

Hainesport is a borough in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 10,927,[10] reflecting an increase of 511 (+5.4%) from the 9,876 counted in the 2000 Census.[19]

The borough was formed on April 1, 1894, from portions of Nutley Township and Haines Township.[20] The borough is named for Major General James Haines,[21] who served as Governor of New Jersey from 1894 to 1896.

Hainesport is located at (40.735914,-74.838191).[22] According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.1 square miles (5.6 km2), all land.[10]

As of the census[23] of 2000, there were 9,876 people, 3,715 households and 2,906 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,068.3 per square mile (412.3/km2). There were 4,032 housing units at an average density of 408.4 per square mile (157.7/km2). The racial makeup of the borough was 97% White , 1% African American , 0% Native American , 0% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0% from other races , and 1% from two or more races . Hispanic or Latino Of any race were 4%.
