The city's history dates back to 1881 when it was founded as a railroad town by Colonel Edward S. White and his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) White. The Whites named their new town after their daughter Blanca (Spanish for "white"). Colonel White had been stationed at Fort Union during the American Civil War and had become fascinated with Spanish architecture while he was stationed there. He decided that he wanted to build his own Spanish-style home after he returned home from war. He purchased land near what is now downtown Casa Blanca and began construction on what would eventually become known as "White Castle". The Whites lived in White Castle until they died in 1924 and 1925, respectively.

Casa Blanca grew rapidly during its early years due to its proximity to Albuquerque and its position along important railroad lines linking northern New Mexico with Texas and California. By 1910, Casa Blanca had a population of 1,500 people and boasted several businesses including two banks, three hotels, two newspapers (the Daily Record & Gazette and the Santa Fe Republican), two churches (Catholic Church & Presbyterian Church), four stores (two general stores/grocers, one hardware store/lumberyard/garden shop), three saloons/taverns/joints (the Palace Saloon & Hotel & George's Tavern), one blacksmith shop, one bakery/cafeteria/hotel kitchen serving meals 24 hours per day seven days per week], one creamery serving milk products round-the-clock]], two livery stables servicing horseback riders], one ice plant], one flour mill], four schools – elementary school #1 (1881-1905), high school #1 (1881-1905), college preparatory school #2 (1885-1910)], post office]]. In 1910 Casa Blanca became incorporated as a town with Colonel White serving as its first mayor].

In 1915 Colonel White donated 160 acres of land adjacent to his original tract for use as a park which was subsequently named "White Park" in his honor]. In 1923 another 160 acres were added to the parkland making it then 320 acres total]. Today White Park encompasses over 1 square mile]]. In 1929 Casablanca's first airport opened adjacent to White Park providing commercial air service between Albuquerque International Airport [ABQ]& Santa Fe Municipal Airport [SFMZ]for both passenger & cargo flights}. Commercial air service ended at ABQ& SFMZ following World War II but resumed operations at ABQ& SFMZ following deregulation of airline industry by U S Department Of Transportation]]. Today CASA BLANCA'S AIRPORT SERVES PASSENGER FLIGHTS ONLY AND IS NOW KNOWN AS THE SANTA FE COUNTY AIRPORT.]

In 1935 General Electric established its first manufacturing plant outside of Boston in what would later be known as GE Aviation Systems [GAS]at CASA BLANCA.] GAS would grow rapidly over ensuing decades becoming one of Santa Fe County's largest employers.] In 1954 GE built another manufacturing facility adjacent to GAS which would eventually become known as GE Energy Systems [GES]and today employs more than 1 thousand workers.] Between 1955 - 1965 CASA BLANCA'S POPULATION GROWED BY 50% FROM 2200 TO 3000 PEOPLE!] ] Between 1965 - 1975 CASA BLANCA'S POPULATION GROWED BY AN ADDITIONAL 100% FROM 3000 TO 4000 PEOPLE!] ] Between 1975 - 1985 CASA BLANCA'S POPULATION GROWED BY AN ADDITIONAL 25% FROM 4000 TO 5000 PEOPLE!] ] And between 1985 - 2000 CASA BLANCA'S POPULATION GROWED BY AN ADDITIONAL 33% FROM 5000 TO 6000 PEOPLE!] ].
