Grants, NM

Real estate in Grants, NM is a hot commodity. With a population of just over 10,000 people, Grants offers residents an abundance of opportunities for real estate investment. The city is located in the southwestern corner of New Mexico and is bordered by the towns of Silver City to the north and west, Clovis to the south, and Portales to the east.

Grants has a rich history that can be seen in many of its landmarks. The city was founded in 1881 as a railroad stop on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad line. It was named for General Edward S. Grant, who was then Ulysses S. Grant's son-in-law and later president of the ATSF. Today, Grants is home to several museums including the Museum of Northern New Mexico (MONM), which features exhibits on local Native American cultures as well as regional history; and El Morro National Monument, which commemorates Spanish explorer Don Juan de Oñate's 1610 expedition into present-day New Mexico.

The city's economy is based largely on agriculture with cotton being its primary crop. However, due to recent technological advances in farming methods there has been a shift towards other agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables which have led to increased demand for real estate in Grants. In addition to agriculture, Grants also has strong tourism industry based largely on its natural attractions such as El Morro National Monument and nearby White Sands National Monument which are both designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As a result of these factors plus its close proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Albuquerque (approximately 45 minutes away) and Las Cruces (approximately an hour away), real estate prices in Grants are high compared to other cities in New Mexico.
