Los Lunas, NM

Los Lunas is a small town located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The population was 2,829 at the 2010 census. Los Lunas is known for its historic downtown district and for being home to New Mexico's only operating winery.

The town was founded in 1881 by Mormon pioneers who were looking for a place to settle after crossing the Great Plains. The town's name is derived from the Spanish word "luna," meaning moon. Los Lunas' early economy was based on agriculture and livestock ranching, but it has since developed into a commercial center with a variety of businesses including retail stores, restaurants, and service industries.

Real estate in Los Lunas is dominated by single-family homes and duplexes. There are also a few apartments and condominiums available, but most of the housing stock is owner-occupied. The median price for single-family homes was $269,000 in 2016, while duplexes averaged $128,000 and apartments averaged $130,000. The downtown district of Los Lunas is well-preserved with many buildings dating back to the early 1900s.
