Lisbon, New York is a small town located in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. The population of Lisbon was 1,853 at the 2010 census. The town is located on the eastern border of Seneca County and is bordered by Watkins Glen to the north, Geneva to the east, and Canandaigua to the south.

The town was first settled around 1798 by Joseph and Elizabeth (Barrett) Smith. They were followed by other families who established farms in what would become Lisbon. The town's name likely derives from Lisboa in Portugal, since many early settlers were Portuguese immigrants. In 1802, a post office was established with John Hough as its first postmaster. In 1811, Lisbon became part of Seneca County when it was created from Ontario County.

The early economy of Lisbon depended heavily on agriculture and milling; however, over time other industries have emerged including tourism and manufacturing. Today, Lisbon is primarily a residential community with a small commercial center along Route 59 near the intersection with Route 96. Tourism has been an important part of the local economy for many years; this has been helped by attractions such as nearby Watkins Glen International Raceway and Lake Seneca State Park which are within easy driving distance from Lisbon. Manufacturing also plays an important role in the local economy; notable companies include Bemis Company (a manufacturer of agricultural equipment), Koppers Company (a manufacturer of building materials), and Wurth Plastics (a producer of plastic products).
