Lockport is a city in Niagara County, New York, United States. The population was 17,811 at the 2010 census. Lockport is part of the BuffaloNiagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The first European settlers arrived in what is now Lockport around 1788. The town was founded on the site of an early Native American village and was originally called "Locksville". The name was changed to Lockport in 1802 after a local merchant, John Lockport, donated land for a lock on the Erie Canal. A canal lock still stands at the junction of State Street and Main Street downtown.

Lockport's economy has been based largely on its role as a transportation hub for goods moving along the Erie Canal and later railroads. Manufacturing has played an important role in recent years as well; notable companies include Eaton Corporation (formerly Eaton-Kelvinator), which produces refrigerators and air conditioners; Schaeffer Industries, which manufactures metalworking equipment; and 3M Company, which produces adhesive products and other materials. Tourism also plays an important role in Lockport's economy; attractions include Fort Niagara National Historic Site and Canandaigua Lake State Park.

The city's public schools are operated by the Lockport Union Free School District (LUFSD). Private schools include Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School (boys) and Bishop Timon-St Paul High School (girls).

The city is home to two colleges: Canisius College located just east of downtown on Buffalo Road; and Niagara University located north of downtown on Seneca Street near Interstate 190/ New York State Route 14/Ulysses S Grant Highway interchange. There are also several seminaries located throughout town including St John Fisher College (men) & St Joseph Mercy Hospital Medical Center Seminary (women).
