Shoreham, NY

Shoreham is a small town located in Suffolk County, New York. The population was 8,814 at the 2010 census. Shoreham is known for its picturesque villages and estates, as well as its many golf courses. The town's economy is based largely on real estate and tourism.

The earliest settlers in Shoreham were Dutch farmers who arrived in the early 1800s. The town was first settled in 1812 and incorporated in 1816. The area was originally part of the Town of Huntington, but it was later annexed by the Town of Shoreham.

The primary industry in Shoreham until the late 19th century was agriculture; however, with the arrival of railroads and increased transportation options, other businesses began to develop including manufacturing and retail sales. In recent years, tourism has become a major economic driver for Shoreham with visitors coming to enjoy its many attractions such as its villages, estates, golf courses and beaches.
