Speculator, NY

Speculator is a small town in the Southern Tier of New York. It has a population of just over 2,000 people and is located about an hour north of Syracuse. Speculator was first settled in the early 1800s by Dutch farmers who named it after the Dutch word for "to speculate." The town grew slowly until the late 1800s when it began to experience a period of rapid growth as people started moving into the area to work in nearby factories. Today, Speculator is still a small town but has experienced significant growth over the past few years as more and more people are moving into the area to take advantage of its affordable housing and close proximity to both Syracuse and Utica.
