Burgoon, OH

Burgoon is a small town located in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Burgoon is home to the Burgoon Opera House and the historic district of downtown.

The Burgoon area was first settled in 1810 by John and Sarah Burgess. The town was platted in 1815 and named for John Burgess, one of the settlers. A post office has been in operation at Burgoon since 1816.

The economy of Burgoon is based largely on agriculture, with crops such as soybeans, corn, wheat, and hay being grown. There are also dairy farms and chicken operations present in the community. Tourism is also an important part of the local economy with visitors coming to see the opera house and downtown district. There are several businesses located within downtown including a bank, restaurant, clothing store, antique store, and shoe store.
