The history of real estate in Millersburg, Ohio can be traced back to the early 1800s. The town was founded in 1802 by General Moses Cleaveland and his wife, Elizabeth. Cleaveland had been appointed as the first governor of the newly formed state of Ohio and decided to settle in the area because it was close to Lake Erie. The town quickly grew and became a center for trade and commerce.
In 1818, James Miller established a store on Main Street which is now known as the James Miller House. Miller was one of the first settlers in Millersburg and played an important role in its development. He served as mayor several times and was also involved in politics. In 1851, he built a large brick home on North Main Street which is now known as the James Miller House Museum.
During the late 1800s and early 1900s, real estate prices increased rapidly due to increasing demand from people who were moving to Millersburg for its favorable climate and business opportunities. By 1910, there were more than 1,000 homes in the town which made it one of the largest communities in Ohio at that time. However, during World War II, many residents left Millersburg because of military conscription laws which made it difficult for them to stay long term. As a result, by 1960 there were only about 400 homes remaining in the town which led to its decline as an economic center.
However, since 2000 there has been a resurgence in real estate activity in Millersburg due to its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Cleveland and Columbus which have experienced significant growth over recent years. As a result, today there are about 700 homes available for sale within the town limits which has helped revive its economy overall
