Mooreland's Home Prices Continue to Rise

Mooreland is a small town located in Oklahoma County. The population was just over 1,000 as of the 2010 census. Mooreland is located on U.S. Highway 62, about 10 miles south of Tulsa and 20 miles north of Bartlesville.

The town was founded in 1907 by W.R. Moore and J.M. Boren, who were both oil drillers and landowners in the area. The first business in Mooreland was a grocery store operated by Jno Browning and his wife Nellie Browning (the daughter of pioneer settler John Browning). In 1909, W R Moore built the first hotel in Mooreland - the Mooreland Hotel - which served as a stop for travelers on their way to or from Tulsa or Bartlesville.

In 1912, W R Moore built the first schoolhouse in Mooreland - now known as the Old Schoolhouse Museum - which served as a primary school until 1953 when it became an elementary school (grades K-6). In 1924, W R Moore built the first post office in Mooreland - now known as the Heritage Post Office Museum - which still serves as the town's post office today.

Mooreland's economy has traditionally been based on agriculture (particularly cotton farming), oil production (from wells drilled by W R Moore & Co.), and tourism (primarily due to its proximity to Tulsa and Bartlesville). However, since 2000 there has been a significant increase in commercial development within the town limits thanks to new businesses such as restaurants, retail stores, medical offices, and hotels that have opened up due to its close proximity to both larger cities ( Tulsa) and smaller towns/villages with more amenities ( Bartlesville). As a result of this growth, some longtime residents have moved out of town while others have moved into newer homes that are closer to all of these new businesses; thus resulting in an overall population growth for Mooreland over recent years despite continued economic challenges faced by many rural communities across America today
