Lake Oswego is a city located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 32,948. The city is home to the University of Oregon and its athletic teams.

The city was founded in 1876 by George H. Oswego and named after Lake Oswego in southern Oregon. In 1892, a group of businessmen from Portland formed the Lake Oswego Land Company to purchase land in Clackamas County for development as a resort town. The company succeeded in purchasing over 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land and began construction on what would become known as "The Village". The Village was completed in 1895 and featured hotels, villas, golf courses and other amenities.

In 1907, the Lake Oswego Electric Railway opened connecting The Village to downtown Lake Oswego. This railway served as an important transportation link for residents and visitors to the city until it closed in 1971.
