Chalfont is a small town located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The town's name comes from the Chalfont family, who were landowners in the area in colonial times. The first European settler in Chalfont was John Bower, who arrived there in 1701. In 1730, William Penn granted a tract of land to Nicholas Biddle and his wife for their charitable work founding schools and churches throughout Pennsylvania. This tract became known as the "Biddle Estate."

In 1810, James Buchanan purchased an estate known as "The Hermitage" which he later renamed "Buchanan Castle." The castle was destroyed by fire on October 10th, 1857 but was rebuilt and now houses apartments and commercial spaces.
