East McKeesport is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.
East McKeesport was founded in 1892 and named for its founder, John McKee. The borough's early economy was based on coal mining and steel production. However, the decline of these industries led to economic hardship for East McKeesport residents in the late 20th century. In recent years, however, the borough has seen a resurgence in economic activity as it has become home to a number of businesses involved in health care and information technology.
