Fort Washington, PA

Fort Washington is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Norristown area.

The borough was founded in 1796 and named for General George Washington. The town was laid out by William Penn and incorporated in 1816. Fort Washington's economy has traditionally been based on manufacturing (particularly textiles), although more recently it has become a bedroom community for Philadelphia.
