Kane is a borough in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wilkes-Barre– Scranton metropolitan area.
The borough was founded in 1836 and named for Samuel Kane, a U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania. The borough's economy has been based on coal mining and related industries since its inception; however, these have declined in recent years as other industries have taken their place. Today, Kane is home to a number of businesses that provide services to the local community and region, including a hospital and several banks. The borough also contains several parks and recreational facilities, including an ice rink and a golf course.
