New Germantown, PA

New Germantown is a borough in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The borough was founded in 1751 and named for Prince George of Hanover, who was then the reigning monarch of Great Britain. The borough's early economy was based on agriculture and manufacturing; however, by the late 19th century it had become an industrial center with factories producing textiles, shoes and other goods. In recent years, New Germantown has experienced a resurgence in residential development as well as commercial and office space redevelopment.
