Newville is a small town in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is located in the heart of Amish country and has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s.

The town was founded in 1802 by Nicholas Newville and his brother-in-law, John Miller. They named it after their home town of Newville, England. The first settlers were English Quakers who brought with them the principles of pacifism and plain living. The Amish community that now lives in Newville began arriving in the early 1900s. Today, there are approximately 300 Amish families living in the town.

Newville is located at 40°4′N 80°49′W / 40.80000°N 80.80000°W / 40.80000; -80.80000 (40.80003,-80.90002). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²), all of it land.[1]
