Robinson, PA

Robinson is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,719 at the 2010 census. Robinson is located in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area and is bordered by the boroughs of McKeesport to the north, Ross Township to the east, West Mifflin to the south and Green Tree to the west.

The borough was settled in 1795 by Nicholas Robinson and his family from Ireland. The town was originally called " Robinson's Mills" after Nicholas Robinson. In 1811, it was renamed for General James Robinson (1734-1806), an American Revolutionary War hero who served as a brigadier general under George Washington. The General James Robinson House (now a museum) is located in Robinson.

The first industry in Robinson was agriculture; however, with industrialization beginning in earnest during World War II, there were now more opportunities for businesses and jobs within the borough limits. Today there are many businesses that provide services to residents of Robinson including restaurants, banks, pharmacies and hardware stores. There are also several small businesses that focus on specific industries such as automotive repair or home improvement stores.

Real estate has always been an important part of life in Robinson; however, with recent development there has been an increase in both residential and commercial real estate within the borough limits. Residential real estate consists of single family homes as well as condominiums; while commercial real estate includes office buildings as well as retail establishments such as grocery stores or clothing stores.

The market for residential real estate typically fluctuates according to trends within the overall economy; while commercial real estate tends to be more stable due to its reliance on long-term tenants who may not be impacted by short-term fluctuations within the marketplaces for other types of property ownership such as single family homes or condominiums.

In recent years there has been an increase in interest among residents of Robinson for properties that offer a suburban feel but are still close enough to downtown Pittsburgh so that they can easily access all that this vibrant city has to offer without having to drive into downtown every day.
