The Price of Home in Sharon Hill, PA

Sharon Hill is a borough in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,821 at the 2010 census.

The borough was chartered on October 2, 1791 and named for the Sharon family of landowners in the area. The first settler in Sharon Hill was Nicholas Shaver who built a home on what is now known as Shaver Street in 1792. The borough's early economy was based on agriculture and manufacturing; however, by the early 20th century it had become an affluent suburb of Philadelphia with many large homes and estates. In 1921, developer John Daugherty laid out Sharon Hills' first planned community – Country Club Estates – which remains one of the most popular neighborhoods in town today.

In recent years, Sharon Hill has seen significant growth due to its proximity to Center City Philadelphia and its many amenities – including excellent schools and shopping – making it a desirable place to live. Today, Sharon Hill is home to some of Philadelphia's most prestigious neighborhoods: West Oak Lane, Chestnut Hill East/Westville Village, Fox Chase Village/Fox Chase Park West and more recently Villanova Heights and University City East which have all seen significant development over the past few years.
