Trexlertown is a small town located in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Trexlertown is known for its historic architecture and its proximity to Philadelphia.
The town was founded in 1740 by Nicholas Troxel and John Kline. It was originally called Troxelville after Nicholas Troxel, but the name was changed to Trexlertown in 1749 in honor of General George Washington's victory over the British at Trenton. The town's economy is based largely on tourism and real estate.
Trexlertown is home to many historic buildings, including the 18th century Trexler Mansion, which is now a museum; the 18th century Stroud House; and the 19th century Goudy House and Goudy Mansion. The town also has several churches, including Saint John's United Church of Christ (founded in 1792), Saint Luke's Episcopal Church (founded in 1827), Saint Paul's Lutheran Church (founded in 1848), and First Presbyterian Church of Trexlertown (founded in 1793).
