Anderson, SC

Anderson is a city located in Anderson County, South Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 21,898. It is the county seat of Anderson County. The city is named for General James Anderson (1736-1808), who fought in the American Revolutionary War and later served as Governor of South Carolina.

The city's economy is based on agriculture and manufacturing. Manufacturing includes furniture production by JCPenney and auto parts production by Delphi Automotive Systems Corporation. Agriculture includes tobacco production and chicken farming. Tourism also plays a significant role in the economy with visitors coming to see attractions such as Clemson University, The Greenville Zoo, and Lake Hartwell.

Real estate in Anderson has seen steady growth over the past several years due to its proximity to major cities such as Charlotte and Columbia, as well as its many amenities such as parks and golf courses. There are currently a number of new subdivisions being developed in the area which should only continue to increase demand for housing over the next few years.
