Pendleton, SC

Pendleton is a small town located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in eastern South Carolina. The population was just over 2,000 in 2010 and has been steadily declining since then. Pendleton is best known for its historic downtown district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The town's economy has traditionally been based on agriculture and manufacturing, but it has also been a center for real estate development. Pendleton's downtown district was once home to several prominent department stores, but most of these have closed or been replaced by smaller businesses. Today, Pendleton's main economic drivers are tourism and real estate.

The town's primary commercial area is located along Main Street between U.S. Highway 221 and South Carolina Highway 528. The majority of Pendleton's housing stock is located outside of the downtown district near the edge of the city limits. Pendleton has seen steady growth over the past few years due to its proximity to major tourist destinations such as Cherokee Forest National Park and Black Mountain National Forest.
