Hendersonville, TN

Hendersonville is a city located in the northeast corner of Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 17,539 at the 2010 census. Hendersonville is part of the Nashville metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1819 by James Henderson and named for him. It was incorporated as a town in 1824 and as a city in 1875. The first railroad line through Hendersonville reached it from Nashville on October 9, 1854. The first post office opened on January 2, 1825 with John Withers as postmaster.

The city's economy has been based largely on its agricultural production (especially tobacco) and its location near several major interstate highways (I-40, I-65, I-840), which have helped make it one of the most prosperous cities in Davidson County. However, Hendersonville has also experienced significant growth due to its strong commercial and industrial sectors; these include banking and insurance services, telecommunications companies such as AT&T Mobility LLC., health care providers such as Baptist Health System of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, manufacturing plants including Bridgestone/Firestone Tire & Rubber Company (now part of Michelin North America), automobile dealerships such as Hendrick Motorsports Inc., food processing plants such as Pilgrim's Pride Corporation (owner of Jimmy Dean Foods) and Kimberly-Clark Corporation's Huggies division (the largest diaper manufacturer in the world), among others. In 2006 Forbes magazine ranked Hendersonville #8 out of 100 "Best Places to Live" in America citing its low crime rate combined with excellent schools and recreational opportunities; this ranking has since been surpassed by other cities nationwide but remains one of the highest accolades bestowed upon any municipality within Davidson County or Metro Nashville area
