Linden is a small town located in Williamson County, Tennessee. The population was 2,924 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Williamson County.
The town was founded in 1819 by James Linden and his brother-in-law, John Overton. The town was named for Linden's home country of Luxembourg. The first settler in Linden was William Overton, who arrived in 1818.
Linden is located on U.S. Route 31 and State Route 109, about northwest of Nashville and southeast of Chattanooga. It is bordered to the north by the city of Franklin and to the east by the city of Lebanon Junction (both in Rutherford County). To the south it is bordered by unincorporated areas including Ridgetop and Hickory Hill (both also in Williamson County).
