Anson, TX

Anson is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 2,898 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin- Round Rock metropolitan area.

The town was founded in 1881 and named for Anson Jones, a president of the Republic of Texas. The economy is based on agriculture and tourism. The largest employer in Anson is Dell Inc., which has a manufacturing plant there. Other major employers include Wal- Mart Stores Inc., JCPenney Co., and H-E-B Grocery Company.

There are several schools in Anson: Liberty Hill Elementary School (K-5), Round Rock Middle School (6-8), and Round Rock High School (9th through 12th grades). There are also several churches in the town: First Baptist Church, Grace Bible Church, and Christ United Methodist Church.
