Bleiblerville is a small town located in the Texas Hill Country. The population of Bleiblerville was just over 1,000 as of the 2010 census. The town is located about 25 miles east of Austin and 15 miles west of San Marcos. Bleiblerville is known for its beautiful scenery and historical significance.
The history of Bleiblerville dates back to 1875 when a group of settlers from Kentucky arrived in the area. The settlers named their settlement after Baron von Bleibtreu, a German nobleman who had helped them immigrate to America. Von Bleibtreu later became the owner of a large cattle ranch in Texas.
In 1906, the town's first post office opened and it began to grow rapidly as a result of its location close to major transportation routes. By 1910, there were already enough residents in Bleiblerville to form their own school district. At that time, the town had two businesses: a general store and a blacksmith shop.
Today, Bleiblerville remains an agricultural community with several small businesses scattered throughout the town center.
